A majority of Steven Spielberg‘s latest blockbuster Ready Player One takes place in the virtual world of The OASIS. In 2045, people escape the crowded, seemingly mundane real world to explore and play in this virtual world where they can be anyone and do anything. The only way to enter this world is by way of virtual reality headsets, some more complex and sophisticated than others.

We had an amazing time partnering with the MIT Museum yesterday to bring Virtual Reality to their Digital Day of Play!

Valve Offers VR Developers Funding to Avoid Platform-Exclusive Deals


The Boston Celtics forward still is working his way back from the gruesome leg injury he suffered during Boston’s season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers. And while the Celtics certainly are incorporating traditional methods in the 27-year-old’s recovery, the team reportedly also are using things you wouldn’t expect: video games and virtual reality.

LTVR at the Women's Leadership Conference by Bay Path University

This past Friday, Link to VR attended Bay Path University's, Women's Leadership Conference! We presented a full booth demoing both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift experiences to hundreds of attendees! Our experience selection included First Person Stereo-360 videos of life as Syrian refugee to a child on the Autism Spectrum. We had the Oscar-Nominated VR short film "Dear Angelica" available as well as a tour of the human body with "The Body VR: Journey Inside a Cell". If you attended the conference, we hope you had a chance to stop by the booth, if not keep an eye right here for news about future events!

LTVR visits UMass Beast Cam team!

Last weekend, the LTVR team visited the UMass Amherst Biology department, specifically the Beast Cam team. We had a terrific time showing the Beast Cam team their incredibly accurate animal scans, in full virtual reality. Imagine a lifesized black-tip shark floating in front of you, except this shark is (or was) a real living animal! We hope to have more details in the coming weeks, stay tuned!

VR Startups Strike ‘High Quality Deals’ At HTC Vive’s First VRVCA Meeting



The Virtual Reality Venture Capital Alliance (VRVCA), spearheaded by HTC Vive, is making good on its promise to help kick start the VR industry having held its first meeting last week.
We’d previously reported that the group, which is comprised of 37 investment firms, moved its initial meeting from September 9th due to the large volume of submissions from startups looking for funding. Today, HTC Vive confirmed that the meeting took place in Beijing on September 20th and, from the sounds of it, was a success.

HTC Partners With Inside Secure To Bring Piracy Protection To Vive


The VR industry is growing by the day and HTC is moving to protect its Vive from an inevitable issue: content piracy.
The Taiwanese company partnered with France-based Inside Secure to help prevent VR piracy. Inside offers a range of different security solutions for web-based operations, though this deal is specifically to prevent illegally obtaining Vive content.

Oculus Teases ‘Guardian’ Boundary System For Touch, Arriving This Week


Leave it to Oculus to just casually throw some major news into a simple little tweet; the VR specialist has just announced a brand new boundary system in passing.

VP of Product Nate Mitchell teased the news just moments ago. He told Oculus developers that an incoming software development kit (SDK) update, 1.8, would include Guardian, a new boundary system for the company’s upcoming position-tracked controllers, Oculus Touch. More details will be coming at next month’s anticipated developer conference, Oculus Connect 3.
